Business Days Calculator

Calculate business days between two dates, excluding weekends.

📐 Business Days = Calendar Days − Weekend Days (Saturdays & Sundays). Public holidays are not excluded.

Business days (working days) are the weekdays on which offices, courts, banks, and government offices operate — typically Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. Counting business days matters for contract timelines, payment due dates, legal deadlines, SLA compliance, shipping estimates, and HR leave calculations. This calculator counts business days between two dates, adds business days to a start date, and accounts for Indian public holidays.

📋 How to Use This Calculator

Enter a start date and either an end date (to count business days between them) or a number of business days to add/subtract. Select whether to include Indian national holidays (Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti) and optionally which state's gazetted holidays to include. The result shows the number of business days, the end date after adding days, and lists which holidays fell within the period.

💡 Key Facts & Information

Indian national public holidays (3 mandatory): Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). Additional central government holidays: typically 14–17 more per year (Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, etc.). State-specific holidays vary widely — Maharashtra has different festivals than Tamil Nadu or West Bengal. Banking holidays (RBI): all bank branches follow RBI holiday list which differs from central government list. SEBI/NSE/BSE market holidays: separate list published annually. Business day standards: RERA projects count business days for delivery commitments. SEBI mandates T+1 settlement (1 business day after trade). Income Tax Act: specific computation of limitation periods in business days.
