SGPA Calculator

Calculate your semester GPA on a 10-point scale.

📐 SGPA = Σ(Credits × Grade Points) ÷ Σ Credits (per semester, AICTE 10-point scale)

SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) measures academic performance within a single semester. It is the building block of CGPA — each semester's SGPA, weighted by the number of credits that semester, contributes to the overall CGPA. This calculator computes SGPA instantly from subject-wise grades and credits, converts SGPA to percentage, and shows which subjects are pulling your average down most.

📋 How to Use This Calculator

Add each subject with its grade and credit hours. Select your grading scheme (10-point or 4-point). The calculator shows SGPA, equivalent percentage, and a breakdown showing each subject's weighted contribution. The impact analysis shows which subject improvement would most efficiently raise your SGPA — focusing on high-credit subjects where you scored low.

💡 Key Facts & Information

SGPA formula: SGPA = Σ(Grade Point × Credits) / Σ(Credits) for all subjects in the semester. Example: 5 subjects with credits 4, 4, 3, 3, 2 and grade points 8, 7, 9, 6, 8: SGPA = (32+28+27+18+16)/(4+4+3+3+2) = 121/16 = 7.5625. SGPA ≥ 8.0: Distinction equivalent; SGPA 6.0–7.99: First Class; SGPA 5.0–5.99: Second Class; SGPA <5.0: Pass/Fail depending on university. Most universities require minimum SGPA of 5.0 per semester and minimum 4.5 per subject to pass. Arrears (failed subjects) carried forward significantly impact future placements and further study options.
